How to Install uMod (Oxide) to a RUST server
This guide is designed for installing uMod (previously known as Oxide) and will walk through how to manually install uMod to a RUST server. The uMod framework is a popular modding platform that allows RUST server owners to install and manage custom RUST server plugins.
By the end of this guide, it will have covered the basic information needed for installing uMod to a self-hosted Windows-based RUST server. If attempting to install uMod with a 3rd party game server host, the install process may differ.
There are many reasons to set up a modded RUST server, as server owners wish to offer unique and customized experiences to their RUST players. Server plugins, or otherwise known as mods (short for modifications), are small portions of code that enable extra functionality that doesn’t exist in the vanilla game. RUST server plugins can be used to add additional tools for server owners or to enhance endless aspects of the game for their players.
Installing uMod to a RUST server will open many possibilities
- Install hundreds of free and popular plugins
- Provide kits that contain equipment and resources
- Create a private or whitelisted server
- Enable different play modes (PVP, PVE, Build only, etc)
- Change resource gather rates
- Modify loot tables across the map
- Launch custom server events
- Add admin and moderation tools
- And much more…
Follow these 3 steps to get started
- Download the latest version of uMod
- Install uMod to a RUST server
- Verify that uMod is running on the RUST server
Step 1: Download the latest version of uMod
UMod’s website makes the latest version available here: https://umod.org/games/rust. Notice the description where it declares which RUST update the mod is patched for — avoid versions of uMod that do not match the protocol version and build date of the RUST server. If uMod’s version exceeds the RUST server’s protocol version, it must be updated to the latest version. Otherwise, mismatched versions will cause unexpected errors to occur.
Download the latest version of uMod to match the server’s latest patch.
Step 2: Install uMod to a RUST server
Once the bundle is downloaded, navigate to the server’s root directory. Inside of the download is a single directory called ‘RustDedicated_Data’. This directory name should match a directory of the same name within your server’s root directory. Copy this folder into your server’s root directory and overwrite any existing files.
Copy the uMod files from the download to the RUST server’s root directory.
Step 3: Verify that uMod is running on the RUST server
When the uMod files have finished copying to the server, it’s time to verify that uMod has installed successfully. First, though, start up the RUST server and allow it to fully complete the startup process. Then check the Oxide version by running the following command:
You should see output that looks something like the following:
Here’s an example of what the RUST server output may look like in Window’s CMD shell.
Once uMod is successfully installed
When the RUST server responds with the correct Oxide version, it will have been successfully set up and is now ready for you to install uMod plugins. Be sure to browse uMod’s website, as it offers an extensive list of free RUST plugins and also has an emerging market place for premium paid-for plugins.

1. Introduction
Hello everyone!
After a quite good start of my first project MyRustStats.com I would like topresent you one of my newest projects: MyRustAdmin.com
Due to the fact that Ineed to administrate several servers at once from time to time, I was looking for a tool that creates the possibility to administrate all of those servers at once. Ididn't want to take the detour by 'opening the tool 10 times and select a different server everytime'. At the same time that tool should run on mobiles andtables, because I'm on the road quite often while I don't have access to a PC or laptop.
Long story short: I didn't find a tool that fits my needs.
Therefore I decided to create such a tool on my own which opens all the possibilities I mentioned above - and I would like to present it to you.
Just in case you directly want to take a look at it, here are the links:

Tool: MyRustAdmin.com
But of course I would like to invite you to read on.
2. System Requirements
Server:
Just start your server with the parameter '+rcon.web 1'. By adding this your server starts using the WebRCON protocol which makes it possible formy tool (and therefore your browser) to directly communicate with your server.
Client:
You only need a browser with active JavaScript. It doesn't depend if you are using your mobile, tablet or PC: This tool just runs on everydevice.
Well, that's it: No plugins or binaries are required and of course: Everything is completely free!
3. Features
- Administrate your server right out of your browser
- No proxy: Your browser directly communicates with the server
- Cross-Device Ready: It works on your mobile, tablet and pc
- No download required
- UTF-8 support: You know those funny characters you see when someone writes special characters in to the chat? It belongs to the past
- Multi-Server support: Monitor multiple servers at once (1)
- Detailed server overview and statistics (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
- Direct access to your console (1)
- Access the chat including several comfort functions like Kick, Ban and Mute (1)
- Detailed player overview including playerstatistics and of course: comfort functions like Kick, Ban, Mute, Give etc. (1, 2, 3, 4)
- Comfortable overview of all actual bans (1)
4. Future
Depending on the acceptance and the use by admins we will of course extend the features:
Automated tasks, autokick, item packets for the give command are addablewithout real problems: Basically the sky's the limit.
Furthermore I would kindly ask you to leave some feedback and wishes. That's more or less the only way to extend the functionality so the tool fits all of yourneeds.
Last but not least we are already planning a release as a standalone desktop, andorid, windows phone and iOS app: In case the feedback is positive we are targeting arelease on those platforms in the next months.
5. Conclusion
I think you see that the tool in its current state doesn't need to hide from other rust administration tools. We already got a huge functionality which we are goingto extend continuously - but of course our main focus is the fact, that this tool runs in mostly all available browsers and therefore it's possible to use it without anylimitations on different platforms.
As I said already I would kindly ask you to leave some feedback. In case of questions or issues I'm available at anytime
